Sanford Medical Center Worthington became a Minnesota American Heart Association Training Center (TC) in 1998 after the AHA established a network of Training Centers to broaden its outreach of Emergency Cardiovascular Care educational courses and to strengthen the Chain of Survival. As a Training Center for the American Heart Association, SRWH is committed to the mission of the American Heart Association and its Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Program:
The Mission of the American Heart Association's Emergency Cardiovascular Care Program is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke by improving the Chain of Survival in every community.
The Sanford Medical Center Worthington American Heart Association Training Center conducts courses that conform to current “Program Guidelines” (Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care), the current Program Administration Manual, and the curriculum set out in the applicable AHA instructor manuals. In addition, the TC supports the Chain of Survival through educational programs for the public in cooperation with the AHA when applicable.
