The Medical / Surgical patient care unit provides one room which is decorated in a pediatric theme. The decorating was funded by a grant through the Eagles Organization. Dr. Bassel Bardan, one of the Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington pediatricians, felt that our pediatric patients would feel less afraid if they were admitted to a “kid friendly” room. His letter of recommendation supported our project. The room is decorated in a “Winnie the Pooh” theme which is appropriate for all ages.
Even though only one room is decorated, any room that is as close as possible to the nursing station is used for pediatric patients. The pediatric age is from newborn through 15 years.
Upon admission to SRHW, the parents and/or patients are given a brochure which provides information specific to the pediatrics. This includes pediatric security, the role of the nursing staff, parent meal trays, and a variety of other essential information.We feel pediatrics is certainly an asset to our patient care unit!
